LINE 56: ROSETTANET INTEROPERABILITY TRIAL - GRIDNODE SHOWS RNIF 2.0 INTEROPERABILITY

RosettaNet has announced the results of a recently conducted interoperability trial and qualified several software vendors for interoperability.

High-tech companies implement RosettaNet, a standards protocol, by hooking up with various integration, connectivity, or platform vendors. RosettaNet today designated ten such vendors -- Cyclone Commerce, Fujitsu, GridNode, Global eXchange Services, iSoft, Oracle, Sterling Commerce, TIBCO, Vitria, and webMethods -- as having passed its interoperability test.

What this means, according to a RosettaNet statement, is that, "each participating vendor demonstrates the ability to communicate with every other participating vendor ... at least across the test scenarios covered during the trial."

The trial, overseen by independent administrator company Drake Certivo, encompassed such features as encryption, attachment support, digital signatures, acknowledgments, and RNIF packaging.

Participating vendors have been quick to use the results to tout their own integration packages while RosettaNet believes that one significant barrier -- viz., interoperability -- to RosettaNet implementation has been lowered.

While the interoperability trial itself went quickly, RosettaNet has been preparing for it since 2001, when its solutions provider group first formed. Achieving interoperability was one of the declared mandates of the group.
